Hello All,
I am so greatful for the warm welcome I have received from all here in the Fred Astaire Studio .Thank you all for your friendship.
I have always loved to dance. My family could not afford to send me to dance lessons. So, I turned to Janet Jackson and others for inspiration. I was a cheerleader in high school. There they would send me to the advanced classes to learn the routines and come back and teach the squad.
After watching the movie" Shall we Dance?" I was compelled to try to learn to dance again. I remember how excited I was to finally find a local studio that tought dance to adults. I walked up to the front desk and was asked" What would you like to learn?" My answer is the same now as it was that first day, "EVERYTHING!!!!!"
From that studio I branched out to train in Atlanta. It was by chance that after training there for 6-8 months, that studio decided to travel to Argentina for the World Pro-Am Championships 2007. It was there that I first meet Chris and Fabian in passing. I did place 2nd there.
In the summer of that year I attended Volunteer State competition in Nashville.Fabian was also there with some of you ladies. I then realized his studio was in Birmingham. I called him up to see if he would dance with me at Hotlanta because that was my teachers competition and he was unable to dance there. Long story short, I decided that I would stay with your studio. Once Fabian left for DWTS, we agreed that I would train with Chris. That was almost a year ago. Chris and I have competed at 5-6 competitions this year.Each time we have imporved in placements. I know that he will help me to reach my goal to become an US Champion.
I believe that with hardwork and continued growth in my skills I will reach my goals. I have also realized that sometimes you have to enjoy the journey. Who knows what the future holds. My story has just begun.
